Mother's Day sermon recap

Sermon Recap, Mother's Day talk by Pastor CJ We had such a great day at Southland this past Sunday, as we were able to celebrate our moms! To all the moms out there, Southland loves you! We hope you all took advantage of the free family photos and enjoyed the canvases your children made for you! We hope it was a day to remember for you and your family! Pastor CJ also shared a message on a few characteristics of God that often come out through our moms. There are three things that we need to remember when we think about God

1. God is for us This reality often goes overlooked in our day-to-day lives. We tend to assume God is either indifferent or against us due to our shortcomings. The outcome when we forget this is that our joy, peace, and rest in God's goodness is overcome by stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. We are always much better off when we choose to remember that God really is for you!

2. God is with us Psalm 23:4 says, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil; for you are with me." Psalm 139:7 says, "Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?" These two verses are a great declaration and promise from our Heavenly Father that we can take to the bank! No matter what you're facing, living in light of this truth can drastically increase your confidence to overcome anything that comes your way.

3. God is ahead of us Deuteronomy 31:8 says, "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged." What an amazing thought to think about God going before us into any situation we face. If this doesn't cause you to stop and be amazed at our God, I don't know what will. Since we are now assured of God being for us, with us, and ahead of us, let's live in such a way that reflects that! Let's live in the peace, joy, passion, and assurance that are ours in Christ! Let's also honor our mothers as we recognize that they have always been there for us, with us, and ahead of us, continually giving their love, insight, and guidance so that we can go further faster.
